Boksburg SPCA celebrates 75 years with a swinging success

Funds that were raised will go toward new dog exercise camps, kennel upgrades, cattery improvements, and vital sterilisation work.

The Boksburg SPCA celebrated 75 years of service to the community with a golf day that brought together golf enthusiasts and animal supporters, raising R151 000 in support of animal welfare.

Held at the ERPM Golf Club, the event enjoyed picture-perfect spring weather, setting the tone for one of the SPCA’s most successful fundraisers yet.

Golfers arrived in high spirits, ready to take to the fairways in support of a cause close to many hearts. While no one claimed the much-anticipated R50 000 hole-in-one prize, the day’s success was measured in generosity and community spirit.

“It was a fantastic day- the atmosphere, the generosity, the sense of community. These funds will help us continue our mission to protect and care for the animals of Boksburg,” said SPCA secretary Sue Beadon.

The R151 000 raised will be directed towards several crucial projects at the Boksburg SPCA, including building additional dog exercise camps, laying new grass in the cattery exercise pen, general kennel upgrades and maintenance, as well as outreach, education, and sterilisation initiatives.

“Every rand counts, and we’re incredibly grateful for every golfer, sponsor, and donor who played a part in making the day a success,” Beadon added.

The Boksburg SPCA also thanked the ERPM Golf Club for hosting the fundraising event.

As the organisation reflects on 75 years of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need, the celebration was a joyful reminder of the power of community support. With hearts full and funds raised, the Boksburg SPCA looks forward to continuing its mission.
