Boksburg hit by another large-scale power outage

City officials identified faulty cables as the cause of the disruption.

Municipal technicians have restored power to multiple Boksburg suburbs following a widespread outage that left residents frustrated and questioning the stability of the city’s electricity network.

Areas affected included Bardene, Witfield, Lillianton, Cason, Plantation, Eveleigh, Ravenswood, Jansen Park, Boksburg North, Boksburg West, Dayanglen, Morgan Ridge, Hughes, and Comet. Residents woke up in the dark, impacting homes, businesses, and morning commuters.

Technicians isolated the problem and restored power through an alternative supply while continuing repairs on the damaged cables. Updates on the repair progress will be provided.
These are the same areas hit by a previous major outage, caused by cable theft near the N12 Rondebult Road bridge. That incident prompted almost a week-long power rotation in the affected suburbs.
