UPDATE: Repair work ongoing to reconnect electricity in Boksburg

The wet weather conditions occasionally interrupt the work.

The City of Ekurhuleni says it expects to fully restore power to Boksburg areas by next Wednesday (December 3), following the November 27 Atlasville substation blast.

It left large parts of Boksburg plunged into darkness.
Atlasville, parts of Beyerspark, Impala Park, Bartlett and parts of Bardene remain without power.

“Our teams are working around the clock to repair the substation and bring back power supply to the affected areas. However, the wet weather conditions occasionally interrupt the work,” explained metro spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini.
“Technicians are using a contingency connection measure that bypasses the substation affected by the fire.”
