Businessman shot dead outside Boksburg supermarket

A local businessman was shot dead outside his supermarket late at night, while police also recovered a woman’s body from a nearby quarry.

A businessman died instantly after he was shot multiple times when leaving his supermarket near the Angelo Hotel on Main Reef Road, Boksburg.

According to police reports, the shooter ambushed the victim, identified as Zelalem Desta Abera, just after he had closed his business next to the Angelo informal settlement at about 23:30. The killer is still at large.

On arrival, the police found the victim on the ground in a pool of blood next to his vehicle, a Hyundai H100. Its windows were shattered, and there was a bullet hole in the windscreen. The driver and passenger doors were open.
His body had six bullet holes, and paramedics declared him dead at the scene.

Gruesome discovery
In another incident, SAPS Ekurhuleni Water Policing and Diving Services members recovered the decomposed body of an adult woman from a quarry ditch of water near Champion Street in Cason on February 14.

A fisherman who had hooked the body while fishing made the discovery
