WATCH: Meat World Boksburg celebrates 25th anniversary

As one of the group's earliest branches outside the original Springs location, the Boksburg store has played a vital role in establishing the brand’s presence within Ekurhuleni.

Meat World at K90 Centre in Boksburg celebrated a significant milestone, its 25th anniversary of serving the community.
To mark this special occasion, the store hosted a lively community event filled with fun activities and festivities for customers and supporters.

Recognising a quarter-century of exceptional service, high-quality products, and unwavering commitment to Boksburg and the surrounding areas, the store’s celebration included a range of engaging activities.
One of the highlights was an exciting hot dog-eating competition, where six contestants competed to finish 20 hot dogs in 20 minutes.
The winners walked away with fantastic prizes.

Prior to the main event, 947’s Anthony, Mantsoe, and Dominique Da Silva-Gordon participated in a quick five-minute warm-up challenge, each finishing three hot dogs.
The main contest saw participants Chadwyn Swanpoel, Pontso Khumalo, Donavon Briton, Thandela Khoza, Thomas Gultig, and Amanda Pretorius take on the gruelling 20-in-20 showdown.

Prior to the main event, 947’s Anthony, Mantsoe, and Dominique Da Silva-Gordon participated in a quick five-minute warm-up challenge, each finishing three hot dogs.

Hot dog enthusiast Thomas Gultig emerged victorious, claiming the first prize of R5000 in cash. Second place went to Chadwyn Swanpoel, who received R3000, while hot dog lover Thandela Khoza secured third place and took home R1500. The top three winners also received breakfast vouchers at George’s Bakery.

Gultig expressed his excitement: “It’s a bit unreal, but it feels good. It’s very tough, but I really enjoyed it. Towards the end, I looked around and realised I still had a chance. All I kept thinking was, ‘Don’t throw up!’ because you’d be disqualified. I’m grateful to be part of the celebration.

“I’ve been a regular customer at Meat World, buying their meat and other products. I dedicate this win to my wife and kids; they were shouting encouragement above everyone else.”
Lucky attendees also received gifts as tokens of appreciation for their loyalty and support. Additionally, suppliers showcased their products and services, adding more excitement to the event.
