How long have you been a member? Since 2017.

Skill level? 5 Star SMB

Where was the image taken? Marievale Bird Sanctuary in Nigel.

What inspired the image? I was drawn to the storytelling, interaction and the energy between the two birds. These moments happen very fast. Capturing that quick interaction -where the movement and light are just right – is why I love wildlife photography.

What time of day was the image taken? 07:30.

Camera settings? F13,1/4000 of a second, exposure compensation of -0 .33, ISO 4000.

Why do you enjoy being a member of the club? Photography can belonely when you’re out waiting for the right light. The club adds a nice social side. I enjoy the feedback and learning from others. Talking about how to take better photos helps me improve. I really value the community and the chance to learn from everyone.

What do you enjoy most about photography and why? I enjoy the wait, the connection with nature and the challenge to capture that rapid and erratic motion where wing beats can reach 10–15 beats per second. It’s great to freeze a fast, natural moment that most people miss. That connection is what keeps me going.
