Protea students raise funds for new musical
The funds raised will be used to buy equipment for Shrek The Musical in August.
Students from the Protea Stage Productions Academy served as waiters at Lone Spur in Brentwood Park on June 3 to raise funds for the theatre troupe.
According to chairperson Lynsay Jonker, nine of the academy students shadowed waitrons and served the many family and friends who came out in support of the fundraiser.
“We had a great turnout, and I would like to thank everyone who supported us.
“The funds raised at this event will be used to buy extra microphones and sound and lighting equipment for our production of Shrek The Musical in August.
“With 56 cast members, Shrek will have the largest cast Protea has ever had.
“It is also the biggest production Protea has taken on, and we want to do it justice by ensuring we have the best sound equipment, best costumes and best sets.”
