FILE PHOTO: This woman was found on the steaming hot environment, Roendebult road near the N12 on-ramp, begging for money with her nine-month-old baby.
The Advertiser asked a few locals what they think the solution is to women begging on the roadside with children.
Qhamani Sikhundla: “I don't know if there really is a solution while the economy is in a bad state and people are struggling to find jobs.”
Blessing Ndlovu: “People should donate food to them as it will help them to take care of the children. It's not going to help to chase them off the streets because they will come back.”
Oliver Nwamlima: “There isn't a solution at this stage. People should help these women and children where they can.”
Ian Strachan: “By-laws should be better enforced, and it would also help if more child-support services could be implemented to help these children.”
Zinhle Nkosi: “People should rather give these women necessities, such as clothing or food instead of cash.”
