Our readers’ views on the removal of Ekurhuleni mayor
This came after IRASA’s national chairperson, Izak Berg, said his organisation voted in favour of the motion to remove the mayor with its conscience and for the ‘lack’ of service delivery in the city.
After the Boksburg Advertiser published the story about IRASA’s stance on the ousting of DA’s Ekurhuleni mayor Tania Campbell, our online readers wasted no time to air their views on the issue.
Here is what our online readers had to say:
Jean Els: Good move
Linn Corene van der Westhuizen: Very competent!
Magriet Naude Magriet: Good
Steven Meiring: Izak Berg you and your comrades can do a better job. Are you blind boet? Drive around and check your ANC municipalities doing a great job. Please stay off the strong stuff.
Allen Mee: IRASA is the ANC bed buddy.
Hilton Kriek: Wow, wasn’t even given a fair 10 years to try and fix the mess. Not even half the time the other party had. That’s not fair.
John Smith: The ANC and their cronies will never give up their piggy bank.
Riana Scheun: More happened in Boksburg in the past 10 months with little to no money to work with, thanks to the ANC looting. So I am not sure what you talking about, but a big thank you IRASA for handing the keys of the city back to the ANC looters!
Lizanne Fivaz: Cleaning up the mess left behind by the ANC.
George C Killian: Izak, it’s for your personal gain. You watched the last council squander money.
Veronica Schoeman: Izak Berg, as jy iets daarmee te doen het, weet ek jy het ‘n baie goeie rede.
Sgidi Stuurman: They sabotaged this lady, only because ANC wants their hands in the cookie jar.
Carl Sebastian Steenekamp: IRASA was nowhere to be seen the past five years, and now they suddenly care about service delivery. What’s the alternative besides the ANC, Izak Berg? With the way the ANC grossly mismanaged Ekurhuleni before the DA took over do you think they deserve to be in power for another term? This is the same IRASA that sang the praises of Masina by voting in favour of ousting the DA mayor. Not a serious organisation.
Cilliers Brink: Kortbroek sellout.
Hennie Herbert: Berg is trying to say that a vote for IRASA is a vote for the ANC.
Craig Fynn: That headline is so true.
Garth Gradidge: Yeah, where was this concern when the ANC ran the metro for 20 years? Just more lip service to try to ease their conscience.
Denise Terblanche: IRASA colluded with ANC a few elections ago. Sold their supporters’ votes to the ANC. Service delivery was no different to what it is now. They did nothing to stop the corruption. Fed the residents’ bull and when challenged removed the residents from their groups. IRASA is not there for the voters, but to ensure they have jobs. DA and multiparty coalition have had to deal with the challenges and mess left by IRASA, ANC and the parties who sold the voters out. There is little money to run the metro.
Lorraine Duncan: Yes because the ANC is probably giving you a job.
Sharon Naude: Voting Tania out was a big mistake. Izak Berg, going against your own people and putting the ANC back into power is very disappointing. Lack of service has been a problem due to no money, such as the maintenance of garbage trucks. You would have been in the same position if you had been mayor. I’m disappointed that you did not stand together.
Shelton Botes: Where are all these IRASA jokers now? They put the ANC back in power. It’s impossible to fix a metro that has been looted and sabotaged.
Riaan Bouwer: If you face any form of ANC while wanting to do the right thing you will never be victorious in any way. When she wanted to do lifestyle audits on all at Ekurhuleni, she was voted out.
