Boksburg Stadium’s track upgrade completed

The Boksburg City Stadium track upgrade is complete.

The construction company responsible for the project, CK Sport Industries, officially handed the sports facility back to the Ekurhuleni metro on Friday, last week.

The track was upgraded to allow for International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) class 2 standard.

In Ekurhuleni, only the Germiston athletics track has an IAAF class 2.

Trackmasters International land surveyor Matthew Cohen, who arrived in the country during November, tested the track for dimensional accuracy, line marking accuracy and levels.

“Based on a report that I will compile, they [the IAAF] will issue a certificate which proves that the facility meets the international standard,” said Cohen.

If any records are then broken at the stadium, it would be approved by the IAAF.
