Young karateka wins international virtual tournament
Cameron David (13) recently took part in the First African Virtual E-Championships hosted by the African Karate Federation.
This was a continental kata championship for children under 14 years of age. David is ranked number one in the country in his age group for kata.
Participants had to submit videos showcasing their performances and the judging was also done online.
David went up against some of the continent’s best kata athletes from countries such as Senegal, Cameroon, Rwanda, Benin, Madagascar, Guinea, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso. He won his three rounds convincingly to win the gold medal against an athlete from Benin in the final.
The Goju Karate Academy (GKA) from Boksburg, where David trains, expressed its pride with David’s exploits.
