Oosthuizen makes muay thai debut

Oosthuizen raring to go.

Boksburg’s Junkyard Yard MMA gym student Billy Oosthuizen is set to make his muay thai debut when he takes on Given Mothiba at the Warrior Sports Academy in Pretoria on April 24.

The bout, which is organised by the Eclipse Fighting League, will be a welterweight match-up.

Oosthuizen, who is still contracted to mixed martial arts promotions company EFC, explained that he is allowed to compete in other events apart from EFC provided it’s not MMA.

Speaking on his readiness ahead of the clash, the 26-year-old added: “I am a lot stronger than I ever was mentally. I’m a lot more aware of other aspects when it comes to fighting.”

With EFC announcing its return since the lockdown was introduced almost a year ago, Oosthuizen added that he expects to be back competing in an EFC hexagon sometime later this year.
