Fund-raiser for bowlers well supported
The provincial bowlers will afford the costs to compete in East London.
The Boksburg Bowling Club’s recent event to raise funds for four of its bowlers who are going to compete in the SA Open Inter-District championship in East London was a success.
“The day was a success and our provincial bowlers will afford the costs of representing Ekurhuleni at the national inter-districts,” said organiser Roy Turton.
“The event went well with close to 50 people taking part. We had a full green of mostly first-time bowlers who had a fun time. “They were impressed with the complexity of the game and the skill level needed to play well.”
Turton added that their preparations for the East London games are going well and they are hoping to return home with a medal.
“Most of the SA districts are attending practices and playing against other districts to prepare for the games.
“Ekurhuleni recently won the Gauteng challenge in the veteran (over 60) and Open B categories. So, we are expecting to be among the winners.”
The games will be held from March 7 to 11.
