Excitement, recognition at Reiger Park CC’s first awards ceremony
This was the first awards ceremony the club hosted.
Reiger Park Cricket Club held an awards ceremony in Reiger Park on May 28.
According to the chairperson, Paul Canham, the awards serve as a tribute to those players who did splendidly after winning the third league that falls under the auspices of the Eastern Cricket Union.
“This event was a great motivation for the rest of the players to work harder and pursue the achievements that have been laid down the previous season. The atmosphere was one of excitement, sophistication and joy,” expressed Canham.
Lincoln van Ross won best bowler of the season, Canham won best batsman of the season, Kaillash Ranchod won best all-rounder of the season, Benjamin Visagie won most improved player and Alexander Slinger won most influential player.
“The future of the club looks very promising and there is much talent to unearth. We see the club growing substantially, especially in the coming season and we aim to revive our junior cricket structures and establish women’s cricket as well,” said Canham.
Dignitaries such as Clr Edith Klassen, co-founder of the club Desmond Adams, groundsman Winston Nelson and plaque sponsor Michael Canham were present to share in the achievements of the club and players.
