Bokamoso FC beats Old Bens on home soil

Bokamoso FC had to fight-back to win the match.

Bokamoso FC (Boksburg FC ladies) beat their neighbouring club Old Bens 4-2 at Boksburg City Stadium on October 28.

This was the newcomers’ (Bokamoso FC) third game in the Ladies Blue Stream league.

The offensive play of the visiting side paid off before half-time when their striker Jen Pearman-White opened the deadlock and scored the first goal of the match. Bokamoso FC looked more dangerous playing offensive football and equalised through their midfielder Esethu Gaxa and the scoreline was 1-1 at half-time.

After the break, Bokamoso proved more lethal as they relied on counter-attacks to punish the visiting side.
The striker of the home side increased the scoreline to 2-1 with a thunderous shot to beat the goalkeeper.

Old Bens didn’t give up and were rewarded with a penalty. It was converted by Sarah van Velzen. Gaxa broke the deadlock to put Bokamoso in the lead again.

She later scored a hattrick when she pulled out a powerful shot from outside of the penalty box that went past the goalkeeper. The coach of Bokamoso, Ernest Seforo said although they won the match they played against a formidable team.

“The team had quick forward and strong defensive players. I like the way my team handled the pressure and punished the visiting side with counterattacks. It was a good strategy,” said Seforo.

He commended his players for their effort.

“We are also encouraging the residents of Boksburg to bring their girls to our team because we need more players.”
Seforo is also asking for donations of soccer kits, boots, shin pads and soccer balls. Anyone who wants to donate to the club may call him on 079 721 6160.
