Victory continues to elude ERU
ERU hasn't won a match in the current Valke Peregrine league season.
East Rand United (ERU), who hasn’t won a match since the Valke Peregrine League season resumed, suffered another loss, this time against Brakpan Rugby Club on home soil on June 24.
ERU was beaten 47-22.
Both teams tackled well at the start, but Brakpan broke the deadlock through Jayden Boshoff who scored a try and conversion. Brakpan led the match 7-0.
The visiting side continued mounting pressure on the home side with a good interchange of passes. From the pressure, the visiting side seized the opportunity to score through Steve Engelbrecht, who scored a try and Boshoff converted. The visiting side extended its lead to 14-0.
Rohan Brooderyk didn’t miss an opportunity to be on the scoresheet as he scored another try for Brakpan and Boshoff converted again.
The home side didn’t back down without a fight it immediately retaliated and scored a try. The score was 21-5.
The visiting side again scored a try and conversion and extended its lead to 28-5.
ERU scored two more tries to close the gap to 28-17. It seemed like the home side was closing the score difference, until Brakpan scored a try, extending its lead to 33-17.
Brakpan again scored another try and conversion, with ERU scoring a consolidation try.
The visiting side scored another try and conversion before the final whistle of the match was blown.
