CORRECTION: Athletes need your help to get to SA champs

The foundation blames the mix-up on miscommunication and apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Regarding an article titled ‘Athletes need your help to get to SA champs’, published in the Boksburg Advertiser dated September 15, 2023, and on our digital platforms on September 11, it has come to light that the information provided wrongly represented the actual beneficiaries of the sought support.

It was confirmed that the costs of the athletes’ trip to the SA champs are fully covered.
Initial information provided during an interview with representatives of Bokamoso Puleng Foundation created the impression that the three athletes needed sponsorship to cover the costs of the trip.

The NPO’s founder Puleng Modise has clarified that their appeal for support was meant to raise funds to cover the costs of the trip for one of the coaches and a parent intending to accompany the children to the ASA Cross Country Championships.

Modise blamed the mix-up on miscommunication and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
The foundation’s secretary, Tshepo Masuku, said there was no intent to deceive or deliberately misrepresent the facts.

“We were under the impression that you (Boksburg Advertiser) had received the donation request letter via email before the interview. This clearly states the details and facts about sponsorship. Accept our apologies for the miscommunication,” explained Masuku.

Anyone interested in assisting the parents may contact Masuku on 073 334 3713 or Modise on 060 620 2458.

In the letter later sent to the Boksburg Advertiser, the Bokamoso Puleng Foundation stated, “One of our coaches and one parent/guardian should go with our athletes to show big support for their hard work during the August 19, 2023, CGA Cross Country semifinal championship”.
