Parkrand karateka soar like eagles

The dojo ranked first on the leader board.

With perfectly ironed gi’s, 35 athletes of the Goju Karate Academy, Parkrand, recently took to the mats to participate in the Eagles Karate Challenge in Pretoria.

Karateka from 12 dojos across the province participated in the annual event which saw the local dojo firmly placed at the top of the log.

“Bagging 62 medals, we secured a point tally of 1 593 with second place going to Villieria Tigers with a score of 714,” said fourth dan instructor sensei Tarryn Madgwick.

“Our athletes brought home 27 gold, 22 silver and 13 bronze medals. This is an excellent start to the year but is only possible through the hard work and dedication of every competitor.”
