Brits victorious at IBFF body building competition

The bodybuilder will compete in IBFF Worldwide Championship next year.

Jannie ‘JJ’ Brits (33) of Impala Park flew the Boksburg flag at the recent IBFF Mister and Miss Universe bodybuilding competition.

He reigned supreme in the Pro Classic Bodybuilding category.

Brits said this was the first time the federation hosted such a massive international show locally, as they previously had to travel abroad to compete in the Universe competition.

Over 300 athletes competed from all over the world, including India, Pakistan, and Russia.

“In my line-up, we had six of the best athletes fighting for first place. Posedown after posedown with the athletes, I was victorious in the end. It was a tough day at the office, but it turned out to be a good one.

“This was one of the toughest line-ups I’ve ever competed in, and I’ve been competing since 2015,” said Brits, who also bagged a black belt in the IBFF All Africa Cup bodybuilding competition.

Brits will be heading to Moscow, Russia, next year in June/July to compete at the IBFF Worldwide Championship to continue his winning streak.

He previously said his favourite bodybuilder is Chris Bumstead from Canada. “He has always been my inspiration.

He is one of the reasons why I chose to become a classic bodybuilder. Every bodybuilder knows Chris, and I want to reach that pinnacle as well. I want people to also know my name,” he added.

He expressed his gratitude to his main sponsors, Psych Skull Supplements and TNT Hardcore Supplements, as well as to his wife, who has supported him since day one.
