Woodlands hosts yet another successful Junior Master Championships

Talent, tradition, and fierce competition came together as Woodlands International College hosted its 13th Junior Masters.

Woodlands International College continued its long-standing tradition of hosting a field of the country’s most accomplished young golfers drawn from the leading sporting schools in South Africa from May 4 to 6 as part of its proud sporting heritage.

For the 13th consecutive year, the College presented the 2025 edition of the Woodlands Junior Masters Golf Championship. The championship teed off at the acclaimed ‘the Signature’ course at Serengeti Estates on May 4, following the tee-off ceremony at which Woodlands founding director Ronnie Matthews officially opened the championship.

This prestigious tournament represents a premium calendar event on the school-level golfing circuit, where Woodlands entertains a field of aspirant and talented young golfers – boys and girls from schools across South Africa – for three exciting, demanding, and enjoyable days of competitive junior golf in pursuit of the coveted Woodlands Junior Masters Individual and Team Champion titles.

Recognised as being arguably the most visible school golfing event in South Africa, this year’s championship saw entries from the likes of Hoërskool Waterkloof, Midstream College, Pretoria Boys High School, St David’s Marist Inanda, St John’s College, Die Hoërskool Menlopark, and Woodlands International College, among others.

Woodlands was particularly delighted to host the Ekurhuleni Golf Union Development Team, which aims to make golf accessible to talented players from all walks of life.

The Championship’s sponsor this year was the SDC Group—the Skills Development Corporation. Their generous endowment provided the EGU players with handsome competition kits and covered all associated tournament expenses.
