Qhubeka AC athlete takes second

He clocked 32:59 to finish second in the men’s 10km.

Qhubeka AC top runner Kabelo Mwahla fell 16 seconds short of victory after finishing second in the men’s 10km at the 27th Northgate Road Race in Roodepoort on July 20.

The Vila Liza resident clocked 32:59 for the runner-up spot, finishing 16 seconds behind winner Paul Omuya, who cut the tape in 32:43.

Averaging 03:18min/km, Mwahla ran a good race but couldn’t match Omuya’s speed as the Kenyan hung on to the victory, continuing his good form after finishing second in the men’s 15km at the ASF Gallopers Race on July 6.

Mveliso Ngqenqeshe completed the top three in 33:10.

It was a Boxer AC top three in the women’s race when veteran runner Cornelia Joubert continued her impressive form after clinching victory in a flat 39:00.

Taya Pelser was 01:01 off the pace after crossing the line in 40:01, and Hanri Pretorius rounded up the podium 02:31 seconds later.
