Roberts twins win fun run at Tommy Malone Memorial Race

The race attracted a field over 1 100 runners, who took part in the 15km main race and 7.5km fun run.

Brakpan twins Caleb and Megan-Ann Roberts won the men’s and women’s 7.5km fun run titles at the Tommy Malone Memorial Race at Boksburg Stadium on October 19.

The Irun AC athletes led the race from the gun and shot through the finishing straight in single file for their victories.

Caleb was first across the line and was followed by his sister moments later before the twins shared a warm embrace at the finish.

Reflecting on his performance, Caleb said although it wasn’t a challenging race, he fought hard for his victory.

“I enjoyed the race. It wasn’t that hard. I thank the Lord for pushing me through. I feel great,” he said.

Megan added, “It felt like a 5km race instead of 7.5km. It was easy for me. I tried to stay with my brother but I couldn’t catch up. The Lord gave me the strength to pull through”.
