Ekon Kai Karate still searching for a venue to empower Ramaphosa youth

The Ramaphosa karate club led by Shihan Moeti Holomo is looking for a proper venue to continue teaching children discipline, confidence, and focus.

Ekon Kai Karate, a community-based karate club in Ramaphosa, is still urgently looking for a new training venue to ensure its programme for children and youth can continue.

The club is led by Shihan Moeti Holomo, who has dedicated years to using martial arts as a tool to keep young people off the streets while teaching discipline, confidence, and respect.

Holomo explained that the club previously trained at a local church, which provided a safe and suitable environment for students. However, that arrangement came to an end, and the club is now operating from his home garage, a space that is far too small to meet the needs of the growing group.

“I was teaching the students at the local church, but unfortunately, that is no longer possible.
“We are now training in my home garage, which is very small and does not accommodate all the children properly. That is why we are still looking for a new venue.”

Ekon Kai Karate welcomes learners from the age of seven and up, offering structured karate training that goes beyond physical activity. The programme focuses on self-discipline, respect, and personal development, helping children build confidence and positive habits.

“For many of these children, karate is not just a sport. It keeps them busy, focused, and away from negative influences. Without a proper space, it becomes difficult to reach more children who need this support.”

Despite the limited space, Holomo continues to train his students with commitment and passion. However, he said a safe and suitable venue is essential for the programme to grow and operate effectively.

“With the right venue, we can train safely, bring in more children, and continue changing lives. We are appealing to churches, schools, community halls, or organisations that may have space available to assist us.”
