Strongwoman pulls out a splendid performance in Zambia
Grobler is determined to improve her strength to defend some of the titles she won this year.

Natasha Grobler (42), a member of the Fullsterkur Strongman team, displayed phenomenal strength to scoop second place in Africa’s Strongest Man and Woman competition in the open division.
The event was held in Zambia, which took place between October 28 and 29.
Grobler, who joined the Fullsterkur team in April, said she made a couple of mistakes during the competition but learned a lot.
“You will always look back at your performances in previous competitions and try to improve where you may have failed, and this is what I tried to do going into the Africa competition.
“I’m happy with my result because this was my first international competition. I was honoured to be able to represent my country and compete against international athletes, and still manage to achieve this milestone. It has solidified my presence in the sport,” she explained.
“The team trained well for this event, even training on hot days to try and prepare for the extreme weather conditions in Zambia.
“We all had different training programmes for the same contest, working on our strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately. my teammates couldn’t make it to the competition due to other factors,” she expressed.
Grobler said she achieved a personal best in the deadlift.
“My ultimate goal was to prove that I can compete at an international level and to qualify for the world championships taking place in the USA. I am looking forward to defending my East Rand and South Africa’s strongest woman titles and going as far as scooping the Africa title,” she said.
She advises young women who want to partake in the sport not to think twice about it, but to just do it.
“You don’t have to look a certain way or lift specific weights to take part in these competitions. Look for any strong man and woman team and join it.
“Most strongman and strongwoman equipment requires a specific technique to be used, so it’s helpful to join a recognised team before participating in competitions,” she advised.
She thanked her two coaches, Coenraad and Marianka Theron, including her family, friends and teammates for being a top support structure.
