Godwin Mtalika of Boksburg North, known to his fans as ‘Big Cass’, is keen on using his music to help people to overcome their fears.
He has been releasing music since 2020.
“I believe many people can benefit from my music because I tell profound stories about life in Gauteng, about the good and bad side of living here. I also speak about my fears and triumphs in my music career.
“I’m a hip-hop artist, as I have loved this music from a young age. The artistry of hip-hop is what drew me closer to this genre of music.”
Big Cass has a passion for writing and playing around with words.
“I grew up listening to different types of hip-hop artists, like Nasty C, Emtee, Blxckie and Lucas Raps, and they inspired my journey.”
He has released 10 songs this year and worked with up-and-coming artists on these new songs, such as Creation, Tj, Madiba, Elflxw and Kulturekeed. He added that he is expecting his songs to be played on mainstream platforms.
“My dream is for my music to enable me to perform overseas. I plan to buy my mother a big house in Ekurhuleni. She has taught me a lot and has always been my pillar of strength.
“My latest song is titled Walala Wasala, which contains rapping. The title says it all. The title of the song means ‘if you sleep you will be left behind’ and I wouldn’t like that to happen to me.
“It talks about the struggle of chasing your dream and how you cannot rest while you are chasing it,” explained Big Cass.
