Watch: Brave lioness saves cub from flooding river
A mother’s love knows no bounds, as is evident in a video showing a lioness’s daring rescue of her cub after a current swept it away.

When a pride of lions attempted to cross a dangerously high river, a cub struggled to get to the other side.
According to Latest Sightings, Callum Robertson, an experienced safari guide at Sabi Sands, was in the Kruger National Park searching for a pride of lions with cubs that he knew was in the area.
After a long search, the group came across the pride on the side of a riverbank. The river was in flood, with raging water and strong currents.
As the lions crawled through the reeds, Robertson realised they were going to cross, and the situation was tense.
One by one they swam across, struggling against the current.
“We held our breath. One of my guests couldn’t even watch and had her head tucked between her legs,” Robertson told Latest Sightings.
He realised that one cub was struggling more than the others. Its mother led the way, trying to show the cub how to make it to the other side. She swam to a spot where she waited for her cub, watching anxiously as it approached her.
When the cub was almost there, a strong current swept it under the water. In an instant, the mother jumped in after it.
As the two were carried downstream, the mother grabbed her cub, turned around and swam back to the side of the river they came from. It was a race against the clock as the cub’s head was under the water.
She finally made her way to shore, placing her cub safely on the sandy bank.
