Bertie Coetzee: It can change to 21, but I believe that won’t stop teenagers from drinking. I believe when you say no to a teenager, it will in some way make the teenager just more rebellious.
Brenda Davids: I think a lot of problems will be fixed if the age is even higher, for instance 25, but 21 is still a good age. There are so many young people who are involved in accidents because of drunk driving.
Madeleine Botha: I believe 21 is a good age for the drinking limit, because I believe that most of the young people only reach maturity at the age of 21 and 18 is far too young to be able to drink.
Gerchwin Wee: I’m all for it. I believe we’ll see a drop in teenage pregnancies and accidents. It will make people more responsible if it’s enforced properly and everybody plays their part.
Nastasia Botha: I’m all for the legal age of drinking changing to 21. I say no to alcohol in general and I believe it’s important for teenagers to refrain from drinking. It’s a step in the right direction.
