Brand new wheels for Mariekie
Brakpan resident Mariekie Duncan (47) couldn’t believe her ears when she recently received the news that she had won a brand new bakkie, courtesy of Afrikaans insurance brand Virseker and Huisgenoot Skouspel.
“I have been without transport for years. My dad, Adam Barnard who is a pensioner, always drops me off at work.
“Once, I jokingly said that I would win us a bakkie; that day has finally come,” said Mariekie.
The Nissan NP200 1.5 dCi SE bakkie is valued at close to R200 000.
“When I received the call from Virseker’s brand manager, Dawid Botha, I thought it was a hoax,” Mariekie added.
“I knew I had entered the Skouspel competition, but I couldn’t believe that I was the grand prize winner.”
She recently collected her prize from IC Nissan Benoni, where she was greeted by a welcoming committee and her bakkie, which was wrapped in a red velvet cloth with a big silver bow around it.
“My dad can finally get rid of his old ‘krok’; he still insists on dropping me off at work, but now we do it in style!” Mariekie concluded.
