Three stolen cars found

Members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department arrested two men in Brakpan this morning for being in possession of three suspected stolen cars.

The vehicles were found at an address in Colliery Street, Rand Collieries, just before 9am.

Brakpan police are currently on the scene and more information will follow soon.

UPDATE: Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan police station commander, told the Herald that an additional two cars found on the property are also suspected to have been stolen.

“They were allegedly stolen during 2013 in Brakpan and Primrose,” he said.

“Police seized five vehicles, all of which have been partly stripped.”

The two arrested men, aged 32 and 37-years old, face charges of being in possession of suspected stolen property.

“One of the suspects is the owner of a scrapyard in Hoy Avenue and was using the premises in Colliery Street for the storage of vehicles,” said Joubert.

The pair will appear in the Brakpan Magistrates Court soon.

“More arrests are not excluded,” added Joubert.
