Drug suspects bolt

Members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department's Equestrian Unit recovered 500g of dagga and several crack cocaine pipe at an alleged drug den in Brakpan.

The members raided a house at an address in Porter Avenue on Wednesday afternoon, last week, and discovered the drugs and paraphernalia.

“No person was found in the house,” said EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago.

“When searching the house, it was apparent that the occupants left in a hurry as it was not locked and there was evidence of recent activity.

“It is suspected that the culprits got wind of the impending raid and ran.”

The dagga and pipes were taken to the Brakpan police station.

“In-depth investigations are underway and we are confident that arrests will be made soon,” added Kgasago.
