Ekurhuleni has lost a dedicated public servant

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality wishes to convey its condolences to the family of Skhumbuzo Ndumndum, Chief Executive Officer of the Ekurhuleni Development Company (EDC), who died in a motor vehicle accident at the weekend.

Ndumndum has been at the helm of the EDC since February 2013, and after a successful tenure as Development Manager at the Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO).

“As the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, we have lost an invaluable leader, who we believe was a rare find and talent in the social housing sector,” said Member of Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements Clr Queen Duba.

“His departure from this earth came at a time when he was beginning to turn around the operations at the EDC.

“The Gauteng Province as a whole has lost a true servant.”

In a short space of time, Ndumndum managed to stabilize the EDC in terms of governance and financial management, and was in the process of assisting the municipality in developing further rental stock in the CBD of Germiston.

“On behalf of the municipality, I would like to express our shock and sadness on the untimely passing of the CEO of our Social Housing Company,” said city manager Khaya Ngema.

“We wish to send our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues present and past.

“Ekurhuleni has lost a dedicated public servant, may his soul rest in peace.”
