“This is excellent work on the side of the police,” said Gungubele.
“This is the kind of policing we expect from them and they have really done an amazing job.
Gungubele is hopeful the truth will now come out as to why the boy was killed so that the family can have proper closure.
“This kind of hard work and determination must continue with all cases regardless of their profile,” he said.
According to the mayor, the arrest gives him extra hope that a breakthrough will soon be made in the case of little Taegrin Morris (4).
Taegrin was laid to rest a couple of weeks ago after dying a horrible death in a car hijacking.
“I wish to reiterate the call that communities must continue working closely with the police so that more arrests can be made,” said Gungubele.
“I remain confident that working together we can easily flush out criminals from our communities.
“Our areas cannot be a paradise for thugs.”
Gungubele will attend Cuburne’s memorial service in Reiger Park at 2pm, today.
