Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend (September 12, 13 and 14):

Friday

A Northdene Avenue resident was robbed of R18 500, jewellery, a cellphone and a television set by three men during the early hours of the morning.

Three men, one of whom is known to the resident, arrived at his house at 4.30am and knocked on the door.

The resident opened the door for the men, who held him at gunpoint once they were inside the house.

They forced him to lie on the floor, searched the house and fled with his belongings.

A man was robbed at gunpoint along Goods Road at 5.45am.

The man was walking along the street, when three males approached him.

One of the males took out a gun, pointed it at the man and told him to close his eyes.

He complied and the robbers searched him, taking his wallet and cellphone.

Three burglaries took place.

Burglars stole television sets, jewellery, game consoles and cash from homes along Prince George Avenue, in Brenthurst, and Des Fountain Crescent and Coetzee Street in Minnebron.

Nine television sets were stolen during a break-in at a furniture store, in the Mall@Carnival.

A hitchhiker was robbed of his cellphone by three men travelling in a white Volkswagen Golf.

The man, who was trying to get home to Wattville, was picked up by the men along Airport Drive at about 8.30pm.

They agreed to take him to Benoni but, after driving a short distance, one of the men pointed a gun at the hitchhiker and demanded his cellphone.

The hitchhiker handed over the phone and then jumped from the car.

Saturday

A television set, laptop and games console were stolen from a home along Gert Bezuidenhout Street, Minnebron.

An address along Elizabeth Eybers Street, Dalpark, was broken into and two television sets were stolen.

A silver Toyota Carolla was stolen from the corner of Van Zyl Street and Joubert Street, Brenthurst.

Sunday
