Four reckless drivers arrested daily
Six drivers are facing charges of reckless and negligent driving, after they were caught speeding along the R23 (Heidelberg Road), last week.

“The R23 between Rangeview and Airport Roads is notorious for early morning horrific accidents, which invariably cause loss of limb and huge traffic snarl-ups,” said EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago.
“With an average of four reckless drivers arrested on a daily basis, it is incomprehensible why some drivers fail to observe the rules of the road.”
The six motorists were arrested between 5am and 5.30am, on Thursday, for doing speeds of between 117km/h and 135km/h.
This stretch of road is an 80km/h zone.
“The usual excuses of being late for work, picking up a child or late for a plane were advanced by the arrestees,” said Kgasago.
“They were released after posting bail of R1 000 each and are expected to appear in the Brakpan Magistrates Court soon.”
