Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend (October 3, 4 and 5):

Friday

A smash-and-grab took place along Heidelberg Road (R23), at about 1am.

The male driver of a Ford Figo was stationary at the traffic lights (intersection of Heidelberg Road and New Kleinfontein Road), when a man smashed his front passenger-side window.

The robber attempted to grab the man’s laptop, which was on the front seat, but the driver wrestled it away from him.

The robber fled with the empty laptop bag and the driver sped off.

A workshop situated along Witpoortjie Street, Rand Collieries, was broken into and a water pressure pump was stolen.

Two residential burglaries were reported.

These took place at addresses along Naboom Crescent, Dalpark, and Kingsway Avenue.

Two laptops, a television set, a games console and a sound system were stolen.

Saturday

A green Ford Laser was stolen from an address along Porter Avenue.

Four homes were broken into.

The burglaries took place along Prince George Avenue, Brenthurst, Lawrence Road, Dalpark, Crassila Avenue, Minnebron, and Kirkpatrick Avenue, Brakpan North.

A firearm safe, jewellery, television sets, groceries and other valuable household items were stolen.

A cellphone was stolen in a clothing store at the Mall@Carnival, at about 3pm.

The female complainant told police she had put the cellphone on top of her grandchild’s pram and noticed it was missing after someone had bumped her.

Sunday

Cash and a television set were stolen during a burglary at a home along McMillan Avenue, Brakpan North.

A yellow Suzuki quad bike was stolen from Olga Mitchell Street, Anzac.
