It is believed Swart was seen climbing the guardrail of the bridge, which is about 10m above the highway, before she plunged off the bridge.

Boksburg police are investigating the incident.

11.20am Police have confirmed that a 21-year-old woman has jumped to her death from a bridge crossing over the N17 highway.

While Brakpan police were on the scene, this stretch of road falls under Van Dyk Park, Boksburg, and not in Brakpan.

Paramedics declared the woman dead on the scene.

10.40am It is believed that a young woman has jumped from a bridge crossing over the N17 highway in Brakpan.
