The first incident occurred on Thursday at 8.15am in Ergo Road, Vulcania.
Osborn Zithulele (28) was driving his work truck along Ergo Road when he noticed a red Ford Bantum bakkie behind him.
“I saw a bakkie with three occupants behind me. The bakkie overtook me, slowed down and then blocked me,” he said.
Zithulele then explained that one of the passengers jumped out of the bakkie.
“The passenger that was sitting in the back put on a balaclava and pointed a firearm at me. He ordered me to stop the truck, while the other one also climbed out and came to my passenger side.
“He started pulling on the door, which was locked, and that’s when things became worse.”
“The robber with the firearm fired two shots at me. One of the shots went through the windscreen and hit the dashboard.”
“I decided I had to get away as quickly as possible. I managed to get away from the robbers and luckily they didn’t follow me,” he said.
Zithelele was not injured throughout the ordeal, but was shaken up.
The other incident took place on Friday at 9.25pm at the corner of Heidelberg Road and Elsburg Road.
A 51-year-old man stopped at a red traffic light when a robber appeared in front of his car.
The robber tapped on his bonnet with a firearm and then pointed it at him. Another robber appeared, also carrying a firearm, and ordered the driver to get out of his vehicle.
The victim feared for his life and immediately climbed out of the car.
The suspects searched him and his car. They stole his GPS, ID book, wallet and jewellery before running off.
The victim was left unharmed.
