VIDEOS AND PHOTOS: Truck crashes through Brenthurst café

The truck crashed through the front of the shop, causing extensive damage.

A business owner narrowly escaped injury when a truck ploughed through his café, in Brenthurst, this morning (Friday).

Saidul Rahmam (41), who runs Mersina Café in Van Zyl Street, told the Herald he was sitting outside of the shop just after 8am when he saw the truck careening towards him.

He leapt from his chair and ran for his life.

The truck crashed through the front of the shop, causing extensive damage.

The truck’s driver was not injured.

When the Herald arrived on the scene, a handful of onlookers had gathered to observe the damage and watched as the truck slowly reversed out of the café.

EMPD and emergency services personnel were also on the scene.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the accident is not known.
