Weekend crime round-up

A woman and her daughter were robbed in their Dalpark Six home.

According to information received from the Brakpan police, the following crimes were reported over the weekend:

• Friday – Four residential burglaries were reported.

These took place at addresses along Talbot Street, in Brakpan North, Joubert Street, in Brenthurst, Dirk van der Hoff Road, in Rand Collieries and in Helderwyk Estate.

Television sets, cellphones, jewellery and other household items were stolen.

A business along Athlone Avenue, in Dalview, was burgled of a DVD player and groceries.

A safe on the premises was forced open, but nothing was taken from it.

Thieves stole a laptop and wallet from a vehicle parked at an address along Inverness Street, Dalpark.

A schoolgirl was robbed of her tablet by three men in a silver Volkswagen Polo.

The incident took place along Scott Street, Brenthurst, at about 3pm.

The driver of the Polo, which was parked along the street, asked the girl if he could use her tablet to make a phone call, as they were having car trouble.

The girl handed it over and the men sped off.

An unknown number of men robbed a business in Withok Estates of two flat screen televisions and other goods.

The robbers, one of whom was armed, confronted three security guards on the premises at about 11pm.

One guard was robbed of his cellphone, while two others were tied up.

• Saturday – A business in Goods Road was robbed of tools and a car radio.

A woman was held up and robbed at a business along Heidelberg Road.

The employee, who was working night-shift, was confronted by a man wearing dark clothes and a balaclava, just after midnight.

She was taken to the control room at gunpoint, where the man helped himself to three cellphones and her purse, which contained her bank cards and R500.

A man was robbed of his cellphone and wallet by three men.

The man was confronted by the trio as he was walking along Voortrekker Road, at about 4.30am.

A woman was later robbed of her handbag by two men along the same street, just after noon.

The bag contained her cellphone, purse and reading glasses.

A home along Hastings Avenue was burgled of two laptops and a computer, and an address along Gert Bezuidenhout Street, in Minnebron, was robbed of a television set, cellphone and cigarettes.

A woman and her daughter were robbed in their Kiepersol Crescent, Dalpark Six, home at about 5pm.

The woman saw two men lifting her front gate off the rails and pushing it open.

She screamed at the men, but the front door and kitchen door were open and one of the men was already inside the house.

The robber pointed a gun at the woman and she and her daughter were instructed to lie on the floor.

The men were joined by two others and they started searching the house.

Electronics, jewellery and the woman’s new white Volkswagen Golf were stolen.

• Sunday – Three burglaries were reported.

These took place at homes along Claasen and Malan streets, in Brakpan North, and Hofmeyr Street in Brenthurst.

Television sets, cellphones and jewellery were among the items stolen.
