A stranded motorist was robbed of his vehicle by two ”Good Samaritans”, in Brakpan, on Saturday morning, last week.
The man, from Crystal Park, in Benoni, had left his home at about 4.30am, to visit family in Villa Liza, Boksburg.
His journey was cut short, however, when he ran out of fuel at the corner of Louw and Lawrence streets, in Dalpark.
According to information received from Brakpan police, two men travelling in a white Volkswagen Polo stopped and offered to help the man.
They left and returned some time later with two litres of petrol.
After putting the petrol in the car, also a white Volkswagen Polo, one of the men asked the motorist to check if the petrol cap had been closed correctly.
As the motorist approached the rear of the car to take a look, the man climbed into his car, started it, and both vehicles drove off.
A case of motor vehicle theft was opened at the Brakpan Police Station.
