Chefs cook up a storm for charity

Prepared food for the young pupils of a special needs school in KwaThema.

Carnival City enthusiastically hopped on board to support the Chefs Who Share – the ART of Giving Back charity series, which recently took place for the first time this year in Johannesburg.

Volunteers from Carnival City rolled up their sleeves and hit the kitchens with a vengeance, to prepare food for the young pupils of Phelang School, a school for children with special needs in KwaThema.

The volunteers spent the morning cooking up a storm, preparing rice, cabbage, chakalaka, baby potatoes and carrots for the 380 learners.

The meals were then delivered by Carnival City’s team, headed by the complex’s executive chef, Rylan Ramsamy, and Ronald Ramsamy, Sun International’s group executive chef and a participant in this year’s Chefs Who Share event.

“Our team was privileged to treat the learners to a hearty, hot meal as part of our involvement with the Chefs Who Share – the ART of Giving Back,” said Rylan.

“Our reward was seeing the children tuck into their food with such gusto.

“It was certainly moving to be on the receiving end of those beautiful and appreciative smiles.

“We are proud to have been associated with the first ever Chefs Who Share event.”
