Weekend crime round-up

Two men robbed a construction company.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A man walking along Voortrekker Road at 1.30am was robbed of his cellphone and money.

The victim was on his way home when he became aware of a car driving alongside him.

A man alighted the vehicle and struck the victim on the chest with a baseball bat.

A second man and a woman then searched the victim, taking his belongings.

• Saturday – Two men robbed a construction company situated along Ian Coetzer Street, in Withok Estates.

The robbers confronted a security guard on the premises at about 9.30am and threatened him with a firearm.

Three cellphones and cash were stolen.

* A charcoal Toyota Etios Cross was stolen from Mall@Carnival.

The vehicle was later recovered in Katlehong.

* A man was robbed of his cellphone and R50 along High Street.

The lone robber ran up to the victim and kicked him, threatening to kill him.

The incident took place at about 7.30pm.

* A residence along Voortrekker Road was burgled of cash.

* A break-in took place at a home in Hastings Avenue.

Items stolen include a DVD player, a firearm, cash and a laptop.

• Sunday – A man was robbed of his cellphone along Van Zyl Street, in Brenthurst.

Four males, one of whom was armed with a knife, approached the man as he was parking his car at about 10am.

They pulled him from the vehicle and started to assault him.

One of the males then reached into the car and grabbed the man’s phone.

The gang fled in an unidentified vehicle.

Other:

• Thursday – A television set, games console, kettle, coffee machine and other household items were stolen from a home along Eric Holdtman Avenue, in Minnebron.

* Tyres were stolen from a car parked along Gert Bezuidenhout Street, in Minnebron.

* A white Toyota Hino truck parked along Prince George Avenue was stolen.
