Crime reported to Brakpan police within the past 24 hours (March 15 to 16):

Cases reported:

Arrests:

• Speeding: 10

Break-ins:

• Blyde Avenue, in Leachville.

Stolen: A DVD player, vacuum cleaner and four clothes irons.

• Victoria Avenue.

Stolen: Two television sets, two laptops, cash, portable storage devices and sound equipment.

Other (Wednesday):

• A white Isuzu bakkie was stolen from Voortrekker Road.

The theft took place between 10.10am and 10.25am.

• A car parked at an address along Kingsway Avenue, was broken into.

A laptop was stolen.

The break-in occurred between 9.55am and 10.30am.

• A handbag was stolen from a car parked along Kitzinger Avenue.

Two men approached the female victim in the parked vehicle at about 11am and told her the car had a flat tyre.

The woman got out of the car to check, leaving her handbag inside.

When she returned to the vehicle, the victim discovered her handbag was gone.

The bag contained a pair of reading spectacles, house and car keys, bank cards and other personal belongings.

• A man was robbed of his cellphone and cash by two men, in Brakpan North.

The victim was driving along Hospital Road at 12.40pm, when the car in front of him, a Toyota Hilux bakkie (colour not provided), suddenly stopped, and he was forced to stop.

Two men climbed into the victim’s car and threatened him with a gun.

The victim was instructed to follow the bakkie, which he did.

He followed the bakkie along a nearby gravel road, where it then stopped.

The victim stopped his car and one of the robbers searched him, taking R900 from his pocket.

The robber also took the victim’s cellphone.

Both robbers climbed out of the car and got into the bakkie, and drove off.
