Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (June 5 to 6):

Cases reported:

• Business burglary: 1

Attempted murder:

A man sustained two wounds to his hand after he was shot at yesterday morning (Monday).

The shooting took place along Bottlebrush Street in Dalpark Extension Six at around 5.30am.

The victim told police he was en route to work when a white Volkswagen Fox overtook his vehicle and then stopped in front of him.

Two occupants alighted the Fox, one of whom was armed with a gun, and approached the victim.

The victim got out of his car and threw his car keys into a nearby yard, but was forced back inside the vehicle by the armed man.

Two shots were fired at the victim, hitting him in the left hand.

The men then returned to the Fox and drove off.

The victim received medical attention at a hospital in Benoni.

Burglary:

• Voortrekker Road (business).

The break-in took place on Saturday.

A suspect was arrested inside the building.

Stolen: Jewellery.

• Van Schoor Street, in Brakpan North.

The burglary occurred on Sunday.

Stolen: A green bicycle, a first-aid kit and a car radio.

• Escombe Avenue.

The residence was burgled yesterday.

Stolen: TVs.

• Sterkbos Street, in Dalpark.

The property was broken into yesterday.

Stolen: Wooden doors, light fittings and a step ladder.

Theft out of/from motor vehicle:

• A car parked along Craven Street, in Brakpan North, was broken into yesterday.

A tablet and a wallet containing cash and a bank card were stolen.

The incident took place at about 9.30am and the victim told police he saw the thieves flee in a silver Tata Indica.

• Electric tools were stolen from a car parked along Prince George Avenue.

The theft took place on Tuesday morning, last week.
