Road blocked ahead of rumoured eviction of Location Road squatters

There have been reports that the squatters will be evicted.

Residents of the Mgongofiya informal settlement along Location Road have barricaded the street with rocks and other objects.

There have been reports that the squatters will be evicted from the area today (Friday).

Location Road is currently closed to motorists and has been cordoned off by the EMPD.

Keeping a close eye on the situation. EMPD officers are seen at the corner of Gordon Street and Location Road.
