Metro raises awareness about breast cancer

Community members will be educated on the causes and different types of cancer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in driving awareness, the City of Ekurhuleni will on Friday host its Cancer Awareness campaign at the Dukathole sports ground, in Germiston.

Community members will be educated on the causes and different types of cancer and the steps to take once cancer has touched their lives.

“Residents, both male and female, are invited to take advantage of the services rendered during the campaign and be a part of the drive that shows cancer the door,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

The city’s health practitioners will be offering health screenings services which include pap smears and screenings for breast and prostate cancer.

The campaign will take place from 8am to 4.30pm.
