School learners collect water for Cape Town

Learners from the Brakpan Educational Centre in Brenthurst donated water to the people of drought-stricken Cape Town.

The school started the project about three weeks ago and has since collected 684 litres.

The water will be delivered by Konrad and Michelle Arend and Johan du Toit from Van der Vyfer Transport in Brakpan.

Michelle and Johan Arend, from Van der Vyfer Transport, are proud of every learner that helped with the project.

“It will be delivered to the depot in Brakpan and then it will go straight to Cape Town,” said Michelle.

Konrad told the Herald that when they heard about Day Zero (when the taps run dry in Cape Town) they decided to help in any way they can.

Learners Ntokozo Klassen (16, left), Kayla Fernandes (17) and Sarah Gerber (18) are happy to be able to help the people of Cape Town.
