Driver and passenger kidnapped during Goods Road hijacking
The victims were separated during the ordeal, but were later reunited and dumped in Soweto.
A case of hijacking and kidnapping is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS after the driver of a white Suzuki Ertiga and his passenger fell victim to hijackers on the evening of August 26.
According to police information, the incident took place at the corner of Goods Road and Stoffberg Avenue at around 20:20.
After parking the car in the street, the driver was approached by a man armed with a gun, who forced him inside an unidentified red vehicle.
His passenger, who was on a phone call, was still in the Ertiga. Once inside the hijackers’ vehicle, the driver was pushed down and his assailants asked him for money.
He was searched and robbed of R140 in cash and his bank card. He was then driven to a fuelling station, where the hijackers stopped and put in petrol.

They then continued driving around, and the driver realised that his car had been taken, along with his friend.
The hijackers stopped at an unknown location and forced the driver out of the car. He was reunited with his friend, who was taken out of the Ertiga.
Both victims were forced inside a white Etios and driven to Soweto, where they were dropped off opposite a scrap yard.
The hijackers told them to run, and a shot was fired. No one was harmed. The pair sought help from security guard at a nearby company, who gave them directions.
They were later assisted by members of the JMPD, who took them to Brakpan.
