In the spotlight: Get to know the head boy at Brenthurst Primary
Meet the 13-year-old Lesedi Mokoena as he is in the spotlight this week.
Lesedi Mokoena is the head boy at Brenthurst Primary School. The 13-year-old lives in Springs. His parents are Busisiwe Kodisang and Fannie Mokoena, and he has an older sister Lesego (18) and two younger brothers Lesika (9) and Lerou (4).
• You are an executive member of the Learner Representative Council. What do you hope to achieve this year in this role?
I want to uphold the vision of the school and encourage other learners to follow their hopes and dreams.
I want to serve my school and be known as the best head boy of Brenthurst Primary School.
• What school subject do you enjoy the most? Why?
Life orientation because it shows me different exercises and I like to keep fit.
• Which subject is your least favourite? Why?
They are all quite interesting to me.
• Do you play sport or participate in extra-mural activities. Do you have any hobbies? What do you like most about it/them?
Athletics because my role model is Wayde van Niekerk.
• What do you want to be when you grow up? Why?
A professional athlete because sport makes more money than other academic business and I want to set a record so the world can recognise me.
• Do you think there is hope for the young people of this country?
Maybe, depending on whether the country changes its ways.
• What is the biggest challenge facing the youth today?
Peer pressure.
• If you had one wish that could come true, what would it be?
For our country to have the highest currency and to have my own lovely family with a bright future.
• Where is your dream holiday destination and why?
Dubai because I love watching the sunset and my mom told me the sunset there is beautiful.
• What is your favourite food?
Pie.
