Carnival City supports spinal cord injury patients
The excursion forms part of the patients’ rehabilitation and integration back into society following hospitalisation.
Patients from Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital in Vosloorus celebrated life after spinal cord injury at Carnival City.
They were recently treated to lunch and enjoyed uplifting chatter at Fego Café.
For many of them it was the first time they had ventured out in public since being injured.
The excursion, to mark World Spinal Cord Injury Day last month (September 5), formed part of the patients’ rehabilitation and integration back into society following hospitalisation.

Excursions for paraplegics and quadriplegics are considered important for encouraging confidence and independence within patients who need to learn to live and get around in wheelchairs. Due to a lack of resources, opportunities for outings are limited at Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital.
Carnival City responded to the hospital’s call for support by hosting the patients and the care team.
